Making Learning French Easier

Learning a new language – especially French – can be a daunting task. If you want to supercharge your French learning abilities, consider the following seven tips on how to learn French fast:

1. Immerse Yourself in French – Nothing can accelerate your French learning like being totally immersed the language. Can’t afford a trip to Paris? Don’t worry! One hour a day, listen to French music, read a French newspaper, or watch a French movie. Consuming French media will help you get comfortable with the language – both how it is written and spoken.

I don’t know about you but I didn’t do so well studying French at school. At the time I didn’t really see the point. Of course later on when I actually wanted to learn French I regretted not paying more attention. At forty years plus I also didn’t want to return to the classroom! Fortunately I discovered learn to speak French software.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not against classroom learning of French – in fact I think it’s a very good way to learn and I did have a little private tutoring. The problem for me, and I’m sure for many busy people, is finding the time on a regular basis to attend class. With private tutoring I could at least vary the times to suit myself but it is a very expensive option. A few hundred dollars doesn’t go very far on one-to-one French lessons!

For a start you’ve got the internet. It’s a huge resource for learning the French language with many sites where you can start to learn absolutely free. A lot of them provide French on MP3 clips so you can actually hear the language. That’s the way you want to learn. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not completely anti-book, but a book can’t speak. How are you going to learn French properly without knowing how it’s spoken?
